2024 in rejections (and acceptances)

I almost forgot my last year-end post, my traditional year-end round up of rejections (and acceptances).

In fiction, my acceptance rate was up to 3% from last year’s 1.4% and tiered rejections were at 24% up from 22%. The accepted stories were both excerpts from the novel I queried, one in Nebo and the other in Exterminating Angel. 

I had fewer poems to submit this year which is at least part of why my numbers are down this year, although acceptances leading to withdrawals also played a role. The acceptance rate declined from 2.8% to 2.4% and tiered rejections from 17% to 11.2%. I had five acceptances, this year, with another five of last year’s acceptances showing up in this years publications. Publications this year were in Belt Magazine, Exacting Clam, Bronze Bird Review, Meniscus and Great Lakes Review.
