My latest publication is an excerpt from the novel I’m currently querying, We, the Rescued, entitled “A Blessing of Tears.”
It’s a little startling to think of how long ago I first started working on this chapter. According to my computer, the creation date for the first draft of the chapter is 20 June 2017, so it’s been over seven years from the initial writing to the publication (not to mention roughly 10 rewrites and revisions of the chapter to get it to its final state—possibly more than that even). Like my last publication, which is also a novel excerpt, it centers a secondary character, Ernie Cushman, a Jewish GI from Chicago who is present for the liberation of the womens’ camp of Kaufering outside Landsberg, Germany. There’s really not a lot more to say about this story beyond the words in it, so click the link and go read it.
