2025 Tournament of Books: James vs. Martyr! (again)

Covers of James and Martyr!OK, there’s not much point rehashing what I said the last time these two faced off. I still think James is the better book.

My judgment on the judgment

This is a vote by all the judges, and since last year I did a handy little table, I figured I’d repeat that again this year. I predicted a vote of 15–2 for James which wasn’t even close to the actual results (9–8 for James).

If past agreement corresponded to agreement in the finals, the table below would be empty in the upper riht and lower left. I could do the statistical analysis I did last year but this is one of those rare cases where the lack of correlation is completely obvious. The close divide in the final verdict is reflected identically in both columns and there’s no correlation at all. Until next year, salud.
